What to Expect

Will there be something for me?

With over 100 walks to choose from, there is something for everyone, choose from; a stroll around medieval towns, ambles along the coast or wanders through our stunning countryside and enjoy the landscapes of our two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This year we have added walks that will be fun for all the family, why not take part in ‘A Walk in the Park’ in Lowestoft or a tail or two at Jimmy’s Farm.

If you are not sure which to choose from contact the Suffolk Walking Festival we will be happy to help.

What should i expect from the walk?

Fun! You will be met by an experienced walk leader who will greet you and lead you along the walk you have chosen. It is a great way to meet new people, discover more of Suffolk and perhaps enjoy a slice of cake or two!

Can I attend on my own?

Yes, this is not unusual and can even be the norm on some walks. Once on the walk you can enjoy your own company or chat and get to know fellow walkers.

What should I bring with me ?

Depending on the length of your walk, we would suggest you bring:-

• Waterproofs

• Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen

• Water

• Snacks/ packed lunch (you will be advised prior to the walk if you need to bring a packed lunch)

• Money, many of our walks end near teashops and nothing beats a slice of cake once you have completed your walk.

• Ticket

• Plasters, just in case!

What should I wear?

This is both walk and weather dependant however, the key is to be comfortable. Wear and pack layers so you are prepared for both rain and shine, it is not uncommon to experience both during a walk. We would suggest supportive footwear whether this is trainers or walking boots, some of our walks are on uneven ground and these will ensure that your walk is enjoyable. We would not reccomend wearing footwear that has not been worn in, there is nothing worse than blisters on a walk!
